The Golden Globes® announced that acclaimed Golden Globe®, Grammy®, and Emmy®-nominated comedian, writer, and actress Nikki Glaser will return to host the 84th Annual Golden Globes, the first major award show of the season, airing live on Sunday, January 10, 2027 on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ in the U.S.*
Following her widely-praised turn as host in 2025 and 2026, Glaser, who made history as the first woman to host the Golden Globes solo, is set to bring her sharp wit, fearless humor, and unmistakable voice back to entertainment’s most celebrated night for a third year. Known for her bold comedic style, quick improvisation, and signature roasts, Glaser has consistently captivated audiences with her daring opening monologues. Her most recent monologue garnered nearly 14M+ views in the first 36 hours across Golden Globes social media platforms alone, setting the tone for an unforgettable and celebratory evening honoring the best in film, television, and podcasts.
“We are thrilled to welcome Nikki back to the Golden Globes stage in 2027,” said Helen Hoehne, President, Golden Globes. “Her comedic precision, authenticity, and ability to command the room is unmatched, and we can’t wait to see what she has up her sleeve for next year's show.”
Glaser added, “I’m thrilled to host the Golden Globes for a third time, not only because it’s the greatest gig I’ve ever had, but because my sister has three kids and now we will be equal in the eyes of my parents and the Lord.”
Glaser has become one of the most prominent voices in comedy. Following a career-defining 2024 when she was named “Comedian of the Year” by The New York Times, Glaser was included on the TIME100: The Most Influential People of 2025 list and continued her momentum with the record-breaking HBO special “Someday You’ll Die,” which earned Emmy, Grammy, Golden Globe and Critics Choice nominations and a WGA win. She recently made her hosting debut on “Saturday Night Live” and continues to tour internationally. With a slate of highly-anticipated projects on the horizon, Glaser will star alongside Kim Kardashian in Eva Longoria’s Netflix comedy The Fifth Wheel and will co-write, produce and star in an original comedy inspired by the classic game MASH for Paramount Pictures. Additionally, she will star in, co-write and produce a new romantic comedy for Universal Pictures with Judd Apatow producing. Glaser will next premiere her new Hulu stand-up special “Good Girl” on April 24, 2026.
The Golden Globes, “Hollywood’s Party of the Year®,” is the largest awards show in the world to celebrate the best of film, television, and podcasting. Dick Clark Productions will plan, host and produce the annual Golden Globes, which has been viewed in more than 185 countries and territories worldwide.
The “83rd Annual Golden Globes,” “ET: Live on the Golden Globes Red Carpet,” and new primetime special “Golden Eve” reached a combined 21.77 Million viewers on CBS and Paramount+, according to Nielsen, and 27.07 Million international viewers across 169 territories.
*Paramount+ Premium plan subscribers will have access to stream live via the live feed of their local CBS affiliate on the service, as well as on-demand. Paramount+ Essential subscribers will not have the option to stream live, but will have access to on-demand the day after the special airs.

ABOUT RILEY GREEN
ACM and CMA Award winner, Riley Green has been compelling Country music fans to raise a drink, shed a tear, and, above all, celebrate where they are from, since first releasing his self-titled EP in 2018. His songs like the No. 1 2X-PLATINUM hit “There Was This Girl,” the 3X-PLATINUM-certified heart-tugger “I Wish Grandpas Never Died,” and his chart-topping collab with Thomas Rhett, “Half Of Me,” have made Riley synonymous with what Country Music does best: making listeners feel something with his no-gimmick, relatable writing and classic feel. An avid sports fan, former athlete (Jacksonville State University quarterback) and outdoorsman, Riley is riding a wave of success after receiving four Academy of Country Music awards, being previously named a MusicRow Breakout Artist of the Year, a CMT “Listen Up Artist,” and one of CRS’s 2020 New Faces. Combs joined Riley on his PLATINUM No. 1 single “Different ‘Round Here (Ft. Luke Combs),” the title track to Riley’s 2019 debut album that he re-recorded with Combs after seeing how fans connected to it. The singer-songwriter’s third studio album, Don't Mind If I Do, produced by Dann Huff, arrived on his birthday, October 18, via Nashville Harbor Records & Entertainment, with more of the signature Riley Green fans have come to know and love from the good ol’ boy who still lives in his hometown of Jacksonville, AL. Most recently, Green released the deluxe version, Don’t Mind If I Do (Deluxe), which includes six brand new tracks. Currently on an incredible hot streak, Green’s well-earned confidence in his work shines through across the 18-track set with five of the tracks being solely written including standouts “Jesus Saves,” the 3X-PLATINUM “Worst Way” and the title track—which finds Green reuniting with his “you look like you love me” duet partner. Leading movie website redefines its future with new course and new type of YouTube product.
NEW YORK, New York – Today, Jay Penske—Founder, Chairman and CEO of Penske Media Corporation (PMC), which owns the Movieline brand—announced website Movieline.com’s reinvention: a bold launch into the online video space. Penske said, “We’re seeing the growing demand for online video and the appetite advertisers have to reach these focused audiences. Over the last year, we’ve had incredible success with our multi-platform video entertainment news network Entertainment News Television (ENTV) and are eager to expand our reach in the field.”
Starting immediately, Movieline will begin producing video content under its distinctive brand. These new segments will be three-fold: Movie Previews, Talent Previews, and News stories. All segments will be hosted by Tatiana Carrier and will run approximately 2 to 3 minutes in length.
PMC’s Chief of Video Strategy and GM of ENTV Michael Davis will executive produce and oversee the Movieline brand moving forward. The first segments to air will be movie previews – essentially a consumer’s “Movieline” for all the latest films slated for upcoming theater release. These videos will include the film’s storyline, scene footage, cast interviews, and red carpet moments. As an added bonus, these Movieline segments will also feature a unique and interesting tidbit about the film – to further pique a potential viewer’s interest in the film and also enhance the eventual movie-going experience.
Said Davis, “We wanted to create the perfect complement to movie trailers – a more dynamic and all-inclusive segment targeted to moviegoers’ interests, delivering them the information they need to make a decision on what to see at the theaters, while also creating a library of evergreen content that works for DVD, VOD, and all other release moments in the life of a movie.”
The next wave of Movieline segments will feature film talent—top actors, directors, and producers—previewing the films and projects each has in the release pipeline. All of these segments will be supported with breaking news updates powered by PMC’s reporting prowess that includes a dynamic range of today’s most respected entertainment brands: Variety, Deadline Hollywood, Hollywood Life, TVLine and more.
Yet another unique aspect of Movieline’s reinvention is that PMC will be launching this experience on the YouTube platform, with syndication to other platforms to follow. Through their YouTube Original Funded Channel ENTV, PMC has seen great success and growth on YouTube, with over 135M views on the channel in its first year. PMC has also expanded its YouTube efforts with the inclusion of a multi-channel network (MCN) called PMC Studios. Movieline will incorporate into its segments the content from its MCN channel partners—including BlackTree Media, Beyond the Trailer, Variety and others—therefore launching a consumer-facing and focused channel for PMC’s entertainment vertical properties.

Showbiz bible offers free access to news after dismantling paywall.
March 1, 2013
LOS ANGELES, California – Variety.com has officially launched, providing free access to all of its content. The site will focus on breaking news and in-depth analysis, and in the coming months, a growing emphasis on video content and interactive user experience.
“We’re glad that the digital evolution of Variety is finally here,” said Jay Penske, chairman and CEO of Penske Media Corporation, parent company of Variety. “We’re confident that the responsive design of the new site, along with our investment in technology, video production and an experienced and varied editorial team to develop content, will make Variety.com a destination of choice for coverage of the entertainment industry.”
The new Variety.com adapts to the device of choice for any reader—from desktop to tablet to smartphone. There is a greater emphasis on all media including photos and videos to complement the written word. The new technology lends itself to greater use of photo galleries, social media and real-time blogging, which will be used extensively during awards season. The site will continue to evolve in the coming weeks and months, with debuts of additional features like VSCORE, the destination to monitor all of the critical metrics in Hollywood including box office, ratings, financial performances of the industry’s leading companies, etc. VSCORE and other new features will make data a much richer part of the stories Variety will be reporting.
Overhaul of the Variety.com site was months in the making, with PMC immediately securing New York-based Code and Theory—a well known leader in the digital design space—for an accelerated design process that leverages Variety’s heritage while presenting a clean, engaging experience for the reader. Code and Theory’s resume includes design work for Mashable, Comcast, The Verge, Vogue and The Daily Beast. The design phase was followed by a 10-week intense period of development.
“What we’re looking at with Variety.com is a ground-up rebuild,” said Penske. “We changed the entire technological infrastructure.” The new Variety site resides on WordPress VIP, as do all PMC sites.
Earlier this week, Penske announced a number of changes at Variety, which was purchased by PMC in October 2012. Among the changes were naming Claudia Eller, Cynthia Littleton and Andrew Wallenstein as the outlet’s three new editors-in-chief, in addition to bringing on former Ad Age television editor Brian Steinberg as Variety’s new senior television editor. In addition to the new, paywall-free website, the print edition of Variety will move to a weekly, on-Tuesdays publication, supplemented with as many as 75 special issues a year.

Claudia Eller, Cynthia Littleton and Andrew Wallenstein serve as editors of film, television and digital, respectively, as well as overseeing all editorial content.
Febrary 12, 2013
LOS ANGELES, California – Jay Penske, chairman and CEO of Penske Media Corporation, and Michelle Sobrino, newly installed publisher of Variety, today named Claudia Eller, Cynthia Littleton and Andrew Wallenstein as the new editors-in-chief of Variety, in addition to overseeing coverage of film, television and digital content, respectively. Tim Gray, who has been with Variety for 31 years, most recently as editor-in-chief, remains in a leadership role, overseeing expansion of international coverage and other special projects.
“Throughout its 100-plus years, Variety has been led by remarkable journalists dedicated to covering the entertainment business in an informative and entertaining way,” said Sobrino. “We are so thrilled to have Claudia Eller, Cynthia Littleton and Andrew Wallenstein continue that tradition and lead Variety through its next evolution.” The installation of Eller and Littleton as two of the three editors-in-chief also marks the first time in the brand’s storied history that women have served in the top editorial role.
Additionally, Penske and Sobrino announced that the current Variety.com paywall will drop March 1, with the debut of a newly designed, technologically advanced site. The easy-to-navigate, easy-to-search site seamlessly adapts to a reader’s choice of device—from desktop to tablet to smartphone. “Internally, we’ve been referring to the paywall dropping as ‘the end of an error,’” said Penske. “It was an interesting experiment that didn’t work. We look forward to welcoming back longtime Variety readers when the paywall drops March 1.”
The new print edition of Variety debuts March 26, and will be published every Tuesday throughout the year. There will also be an expanded schedule of special editions covering everything from awards season to topical issues confronting the industry, such as January’s stand-alone issue examining violence in entertainment.
“We remain committed to a print edition of Variety and are excited that it will expand in size and scope of coverage,” said Sobrino. “The feedback we got from the industry on our recent ultimate awards season guide and violence and entertainment issue tells us we’re headed in the right direction. We’re excited to deliver dozens of special issues to readers throughout the year.” The current daily print edition of Variety will make its final appearance on March 19. Variety originated as a New York-based weekly publication in 1905, expanding to a Hollywood-based daily edition in 1933.
“When PMC purchased Variety last year, we committed to the digital evolution of this great brand,” said Penske. “We’re accelerating this strategy by heavily investing in our editorial staff, technology, video production and responsive design, all with the goal of providing the best experience for our dedicated readers. Having three editors-in-chief—Claudia, Cynthia and Andrew, each renowned for their coverage of film, television and digital/new media, respectively—is an innovative approach to address the quickly changing media landscape. It is designed to foster collaboration in our coverage of these three core areas of entertainment. We’re also very privileged to have longtime editor Tim Gray, with more than three decades at Variety, remain with us as we expand our coverage of the global entertainment business.”
Eller comes to Variety from the Los Angeles Times, where she spent 20 years as a reporter and editor, most recently serving as entertainment news editor. Eller is among the best known and most respected journalists in the entertainment community. She has been a driving force in the Times’ online and print coverage of showbiz, with particular emphasis on the economic aspects of the film industry and how evolving technologies, consumer habits and new delivery systems are reshaping Hollywood’s business models and impacting decision making at the highest levels.
Before joining the Times, Eller worked as a film reporter for Variety from 1989 to 1993. During that time, Eller launched and penned the widely read Dish column. She also held positions at the Hollywood Reporter and On Location magazine.
A graduate of USC, Eller is the recipient of several journalism awards and has been a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize and Gerald Loeb Award.
Littleton, who has covered the television beat for the past 20 years, was most recently the deputy editor of Variety. She began her career at United Press International, followed by stints at Broadcasting & Cable magazine, Variety and the Hollywood Reporter, where she rose to editor before re-joining Variety in 2007. She is the author of “TV on Strike: Why Hollywood Went to War Over the Internet” (Syracuse University Press, 2013), the definitive account of the 2007-2008 Writers Guild of America strike and the impact of the disruptive digital advancements that fueled the labor strife. She also co-authored with Susanne Daniels “Season Finale: The Unexpected Rise and Fall of the WB Network and UPN” (HarperCollins, 2007).
Wallenstein joined Variety in 2011, and most recently served as television editor, covering both the television and tech industries, with focused coverage on companies at the nexus of entertainment and digital media. He was at the Hollywood Reporter from 2002 to 2010, where he held various top posts including editor of THR.com.
