Today, Rolling Stone announced the launch of its first-ever festival, Stateside, a boutique live event and content experience set in the heart of New York’s Hudson Valley. Anchored by a flagship event on the 4th of July at Hutton Brickyards’ riverfront property in Kingston, NY, Stateside will celebrate the music, food, art, and culture that are synonymous with American culture. Attendees can expect to channel the timeless spirit of Americana - hot dogs, fireworks, local food vendors, an artisan market, guitars, and great days under the summer sun.

Fresh off the release of his fourth studio album, “The Great Divide”, and upcoming SOLD-OUT national stadium tour this summer, 2x Grammy-nominated multi-platinum superstar Noah Kahan will headline Rolling Stone’s inaugural event. Stateside will feature a full day of live performances across indie, folk, pop, and country, including Gigi Perez, Sydney Rose, Arcy Drive, Bo Staloch, Devon Gilfillian, Derby, Calder Allen, and Michaela Anne. At just under 4,000 in total capacity, festivalgoers are sure to enjoy a unique and intimate experience. The evening will culminate with a celebratory fireworks show immediately after Noah’s set.

Guests who purchase VIP and Platinum tickets will enjoy premium perks like dedicated entry and bars, premium viewing, air-conditioned restrooms, and more.

Select VIP and Platinum attendees will have the opportunity to make a weekend out of their Stateside experience. In addition to the main event on Saturday, July 4th, the festival will feature a limited amount of exclusive weekend-long programming and hospitality packages, complete with riverfront luxury accommodations at the property. Beginning July 3rd through the morning of July 5th, on-property guests will have access to curated dining, entertainment, and wellness experiences.

Stateside Festival is proud to partner with Boston Beer Company to bring Dogfish Head, Sun Cruiser, and Angry Orchard to this year’s event. In partnership with Rolling Stone, Dogfish Head is working on a special product launch for Stateside, with additional details to be announced soon.

The festival will also feature Scout Motors as the official automotive partner. At Stateside, Rolling Stone and Scout Motors team up to debut “Tailgate Sessions Presented by Scout Motors” — part intimate performance stage, hangout, and discovery space. Designed like a modern Americana garage, the activation fuses the Scout brand’s rugged, adventure-forward spirit with Rolling Stone’s music authority into one unmistakably cool fan experience.

Hertz joins Stateside as the official car rental partner, making the journey to Kingston part of the experience. Guests who arrive in a Hertz rental will unlock exclusive on-site perks, including a branded arrival moment, a festival essentials kit, and access to a private lounge with dedicated food, beverage, and restrooms. Hertz Gold+ members will also have exclusive access to a limited allotment of on-property VIP parking.

VIP packages and general admission tickets for Stateside Festival will go on sale 10am ET on Thursday, April 30th at Statesidefest.com/tickets, with additional information available at statesidefest.com.

PETE TONG has for generations of electronic music fans around the world, been the definitive voice of the scene for decades. But don’t ever think of Pete Tong as part of the establishment. In fact, throughout his varied and astonishing career, he’s been a catalyst, a genuine agent for change. And it’s all based around a simple yet relentless personal mission: to find great music and talent, and to share it with as many people as possible.

Take the Ibiza Classics project, the globally touring, live orchestral extravaganza that’s seen Tong and collaborators Jules Buckley taking electronic music to another dimension. Initially conceived as a one-off for the Proms classical music festival in 2015, translating some of the most loved dance music anthems for an orchestra to celebrate 20 years of Radio One in Ibiza, the way that Classics caught the imagination shocked even Pete: “I went to Manchester to go on breakfast TV to launch it. And by the time I came back on the train to London, we'd sold 18,000 tickets.” The original core of the idea was to reach those ravers for whom going out to clubs all night was no longer a realistic option. “Life catches up,” says Pete. “But it doesn't mean you fall out of love with the music. Those songs; ‘Promised Land’, or ‘Your Love’, ‘Cafe Del Mar’: to some people they're just as important as the Beatles or the Rolling Stones. If you were there on the dance floor at, say, Space in Ibiza, they’re in your soul for the rest of your life.”

Panelists include Yael Averbuch, General Manager and Head of Soccer Operations at Gotham FC; Christine Monjer, President of the Los Angeles Sparks; Kim Ng, Senior Advisor and Commissioner of Athletes Unlimited Softball League; and Jennifer Rizzotti, President of the Connecticut Sun.
  • A Keynote Conversation with Terri Jackson: In this powerful conversation with Terri Jackson, Executive Director of the Women’s National Basketball Players Association (WNBPA), she will discuss the evolution of player-led movements, the ongoing fight for equity and respect in sports, and how collective action is transforming the business of women's athletics. As one of the most influential voices in athlete advocacy and labor rights, Jackson will talk about how the WNBPA has reshaped the landscape of professional women’s basketball—securing historic gains in pay equity, maternity protections, and player empowerment.
  • Agents & Athletes in Conversation: Every great athlete has a powerhouse behind the scenes. Join leading sports agents and their clients as they discuss what it takes to thrive in today’s competitive sports world. This candid conversation explores trust, strategy, career milestones, and the unfiltered reality of navigating fame, pressure, and performance together.

June 24, 2025

Today, South by Southwest® (SXSW®) unveiled its new 2026 vision: bringing music, film & TV, and innovation programming together for seven concurrent days in downtown Austin, while honoring four decades of creative discovery and connection that has defined the event.

March 12-18, 2026, SXSW will run all programming simultaneously for the first time, creating deeper opportunities for the creative exchange between industries that has been SXSW's signature since 1987. The Music Festival expands to seven nights, and SXSW Interactive becomes SXSW Innovation, a change that reflects the broader scope of industries that now call SXSW home. SXSW EDU will run March 9-12, with March 12 as a full crossover day between the events.

The transformation comes as downtown Austin itself evolves, with the Austin Convention Center undergoing major redevelopment. SXSW 2026 will expand throughout the city center, creating themed neighborhoods that give each creative community a dedicated space while expanding the spontaneous encounters that have launched careers and sparked creative and business collaborations each year.

“The next four years present an incredible opportunity for SXSW,” said Jenny Connelly, Director in Charge of SXSW. “With the Austin Convention Center under construction, we’ve embraced the chance to reimagine the event and explore new, exciting possibilities. Our creative community is eager for impactful, immersive experiences, and we’re thrilled to bring them to life across Austin this March.”

"SXSW is a meeting place for creatives, and serves as a point of inspiration and meaningful insights that will define how we work, play, and connect, " said Peter Lewis, Chief of Partnerships and Strategy. “We are excited about curating even more touchpoints and pathways for impactful collaboration amongst our partners and the extraordinary SXSW audiences.”Applications are now open for PanelPicker® conference proposals, Music Festival showcasing artists, SXSW Pitch, and SXSW Innovation Awards. Film & TV Festival submissions will open in July.

“SXSW showcases the biggest ideas set to impact the next wave of creativity and innovation across technology, design, film, TV, music, education, and business,” said Greg Rosenbaum, VP of programming for SXSW and co-founder of SXSW EDU. “The voice of the community remains the beating heart of SXSW and the launch of our applications is an open call to participate in our programming process.”

The reimagined SXSW 2026 creates badge-specific neighborhoods throughout downtown Austin, supporting focused engagement and exploration:

  • Music Festival & Conference badges access showcases and music industry programming.
  • Film & TV Festival & Conference badges unlock screening venues and industry sessions.
  • Innovation badges provide access to tech & innovation programming and community spaces.
  • Platinum badges offer complete access to all three creative communities.

All badges include access to keynotes, featured sessions, exhibitions, and citywide experiences.

The concurrent format and community homebases deliver to attendees a way to experience the full spectrum of SXSW, but also experience the distinct identity and depth each community values. The evolution from “interactive” to “innovation” acknowledges the growth of SXSW’s technology programming  beyond its 1990s digital roots to encompass healthcare advancements, sustainable business practices, marketing evolution, and startup culture across industries.

Additionally, the Music Festival’s expansion to seven consecutive nights creates additional showcase opportunities. For the past several years, SXSW Music has focused on curating more opportunities for participating acts, audiences and industry to connect with each other. The festival will maintain a similar venue footprint to recent years while optimizing the experience for artist development, industry and fans.

"SXSW Music is leveling up in 2026 and beyond," said Brian Hobbs, VP of Music Festival Programming. "Seven nights of showcases means more opportunities for artists to get their moment, and for music lovers to experience breakthrough performances throughout the event."

Today, SXSW also unveiled the first glimpse of its 2026 key art, created in partnership with Austin-based design firm Overstory and Taiwanese-American illustrator Josh Cochran. The vibrant illustration depicts diverse creatives gathering in Austin's reimagined downtown landscape, embodying the festival's "All Together Now" spirit.

Last night, IndieWire, the definitive outlet for creative independence in film and TV, hosted its bi-annual IndieWire Honors event at NeueHouse in Hollywood celebrating the brightest talents and most compelling stories shaping television today. Hosted by comedian and “Hacks” star Robby Hoffman, the evening radiated humor, emotional tributes, and unabashed honesty as it recognized acclaimed projects and incredible achievements in the TV industry.

The event honored creatives and performers whose work pushed the medium forward, including Ben Stiller and Jessica Lee Gagné (Severance), Mara Brock Akil (Forever), Kathy Bates (Matlock), Colin Farrell (The Penguin), Julianne Nicholson (Paradise), Aminah Nieves (1923), and Owen Cooper (Adolescence).

Key Moments:

Breakout Award Winner Owen Cooper on Acting: “It’s an honor to be here. What started off as a hobby to landing the role in ‘Adolescence,’ acting has really taken me out of my comfort zone and inspired me to learn and soak up knowledge from other experienced actors.”

Ben Stiller in response to Hoffman’s request that honorees establish if they are Nepo Babies: “I am a nepo baby. Full-on, full-on nepo baby. And Owen Cooper, shame on you. I'm gonna tell Bradley you did not mention him, ‘cause we know the truth.”

Robby Hoffman on Ben Stiller: I've been a huge Ben Stiller fan since my mother rented “Keeping the Faith” from the Korean video store next door to our house. I watched that movie over and over again at a pivotal time in my life. I couldn't tell if I was more attracted to Jenna Elfman, who's a Scientologist, or Ben Stiller and his forearms. Ben, do us all a favor. Roll up a sleeve.”

Robby Hoffman on Nepos “Nepos, I feel for you, but what's the worst thing for nepos? What? It's a little embarrassing. Who cares. You're rich, you're famous, your wife is hot. I would take a little embarrassing over being poor any day. Trust me, I've been poor. It's way worse.”

Ben Stiller on Working with Cinematographer Jessica Lee Gagné: “I am so grateful for the collaboration that we have been able to have together. Jessica is one of the most talented people I've ever met, and I feel lucky that we have been able to work together, to unlock parts of ourselves that we haven't been able to before."

Julianne Nicholson on the Roles She is Drawn To: “Thank you to IndieWire for this recognition and being a champion of me and my work over the years. I believe in trying to find roles that defy stereotypes that try to show life as it really is, not as we wish it were. I've always cared for the underdog, for the scrappy, the perverse, the weird, the unorthodox, and I think by and large IndieWire does, too. Over the years in film, and now in television, it has always made this job feel a little less lonely and some of the choices I've made less marginal. There's a community of artists and writers and journalists who are broadly working toward the same goal. And so, for me, and many other artists who feel the same way about you, who just want to do good work in a medium that we cherish, I want to thank IndieWire. We feel there are people out there who are watching and caring and wanting these things, too.”

“The Penguin” makeup artist Mike Marino on AI in Hollywood: “It means a lot to be recognized for something that was done entirely by human hands. The clay, glue, rubber, inspiration, and the intention to create something special. There was no AI involved here, no shortcuts. Just time, thought, and trust. And Colin Farrell was fully committed, and I'm grateful for his patience through the process. It's many, many thousands of steps to do something so realistic. We’re in a time when AI can create basically anything convincingly right now, but that doesn't make it a substitute for human creativity. If we want to protect the soul of filmmaking, we have to protect the people who make it. Thank you, IndieWire, for recognizing that.”

Kathy Bates on Matlock's Success: “We've been so excited about Matlock from its inception and are always talking about the latest episode and the fantastic ratings. 16 million. And that's per episode.”

  • Ben Stiller on the Season 2 finale of Severance: “Hopefully Innie Mark earned the choice in terms of the audience’s point of view. Hopefully the audience would emphasize with Outie Mark’s point of view, too. But we really didn’t want to do another cliffhanger ending like Season 1. We really wanted the Season 2 finale to be different.”

Global music authority Billboard celebrated its inaugural Global Power Players event with an exclusive gathering at London’s Shoreditch House. The evening brought together music’s top international executives and artists - marking the first time Billboard has assembled its Global Power Players honorees in one room to recognize their impact on the global music industry.

The likes of Sir Elton John and his husband and manager David Furnish, afrobeats superstar Tems and EMPIRE founder and CEO Ghazi Shami were recognised with awards.

Among the night’s highlights:

  • Sir Elton John and his husband and manager David Furnish were honored with the first-ever Creators’ Champion Award for their leadership in defending artists’ rights. The award recognizes their outspoken advocacy for legislation that would require tech companies to disclose and license the music used to train AI models.
  • Ghazi Shami, founder and CEO of San Francisco-based EMPIRE, received the prestigious Clive Davis Visionary Award, which celebrates bold leadership and innovation in the music industry. Selected by Billboard’s editorial team, the award is named after the legendary executive Clive Davis.
  • Billboard presented the Diamond Award, a recognition of excellence and influence in African music, to Nigerian star Tems, who tonight, June 5th, headlines Billboard Presents The Stage as part of SXSW London. Billboard hosts The Stage at SXSW Austin for three nights each year, featuring big-name headliners across genres. Launching the series in London marks a significant milestone for Billboard as it expands its global celebration of talent.
  • As part of the Diamond Award celebration, Billboard announced the launch of Billboard Africa, further expanding its global presence. Africa and its diaspora have long been the birthplace of musical innovation, influencing genres worldwide. This launch celebrates that legacy and creates a dedicated platform to spotlight the continent’s powerful and evolving sound.

Honored with the Creators’ Champion Award, Elton John said Thank you to Billboard for honouring myself and David Furnish with the Creators’ Champion Award. Supporting the next generation of British artists is one of the major driving forces in my life. As everyone in that room was aware, the Data Bill is currently looming over our industries and the future livelihood of all artists. It is an existential issue.

Let’s be clear - we want to work with the government. We are not anti A.I. We are not anti Big Tech. We are not against Labour. We want a solution that brings all parties together in a way that’s transparent, fair and allows artists to maintain control of their work.

We will not let The Government forget their promise to support our creative industries. We will not back down and we will not quietly go away. This is just the beginning.

Thank you Billboard. And thank you Baroness Kidron and The House of Lords for standing up for our world-beating artists, journalists, playwrights, designers and authors.”

After receiving the Diamond Award, Tems shared her thoughts, saying “Thank you so much to Billboard. I am honoured to be here. African music is moving to heights it has never been before, and Billboard is one of those key players in moving that needle forward in Africa.”

On receiving the Clive Davis Visionary Award, Ghazi Shami said This means a lot to me…It’s all too surreal, and all I would say is never lose sight of how it all started, and for me, it all started with the music.”

Billboard CEO Mike Van commented Thank you for welcoming us here to London. What you're experiencing tonight is the first step into how Billboard is expanding globally.

Billboard Editor In Chief Hannah Karp added “This is the first time that we have gathered all of our global power players in one room to celebrate their leadership, and we thank you all so much for coming.”

For years, Billboard’s Global Power Players list has recognized the international executives shaping the music business beyond the U.S., while its Power 100 event in Los Angeles has celebrated domestic leadership. Now, with Billboard’s rapidly expanding global footprint - spanning 16 international editions in more than 10 languages - the 2025 Global Power Players were welcomed to London for an evening of networking, recognition, and celebration of global music excellence.
