Leila Cobo and Jason Lipshutz Both Promoted to Lead Editorial at Billboard as Chief Content Officers

New York, NY – January 20, 2026 – Global music authority Billboard is proud to announce the promotion of two proven executives to lead its editorial team. Leila Cobo and Jason Lipshutz have been elevated to Co-Chief Content Officers. Previously, the pair was respectively the Chief Content Officer of Billboard Latin, and the Executive Director of Music. Cobo and Lipshutz will share total oversight of Billboard's editorial content and newsroom operations as well as marquee franchises including Women in Music, Latin Music Week, The Stage at SXSW and more. Additionally, Cobo will continue to oversee Billboard’s Latin music coverage while adding Country music to her scope. Lipshutz will continue to oversee Pop Music, adding Rock, Hip-Hop, and Dance to his role. Both will report to Billboard CEO, Mike Van, effective immediately.

Born and raised in Colombia, Leila is a Fulbright scholar with degrees in classical piano performance from Manhattan School of Music and a master's in communications from the Annenberg School at USC. Jason Lipshutz, a fixture of modern music journalism for over a decade, has covered iconic artists such as Taylor Swift, U2, and Lorde, while guiding Billboard's editorial strategy across Pop and Rock music. THE 83RD ANNUAL GOLDEN GLOBES reached an average of 18 Million Total Viewers, according to Nielsen estimates.

Golden Globes programming on CBS and Paramount+ during the week (the 83rd GOLDEN GLOBES, “ET: LIVE ON THE GOLDEN GLOBES RED CARPET,” and new primetime special GOLDEN EVE) reached a combined 21 Million Viewers, according to Nielsen.

THE 83RD ANNUAL GOLDEN GLOBES delivered nearly 9M viewers (8.66M), ranking as the Most-Watched Awards Show since the Oscars (aired March 2, 2025) according to Nielsen Panel+Big Data Live+Same Day ratings.

The awards special was the #1 entertainment program of the week.

The awards special aired on CBS Sunday, Jan. 11 LIVE 8:00PM ET/ 5:00PM PT and again on the west coast 8:20pm - 11:40PM PT.

Nikki Glaser’s monologue garnered nearly 14MM+ views in the first 36 hours across Globes Globes social media platforms.

Today, Rolling Stone announced its return to South by Southwest® (SXSW®) in Austin, TX, with its highly anticipated Future of Music showcase, presented by JBL, a three-night concert series celebrating the trailblazing artists shaping the music of tomorrow. Now in its fourth year, the showcase will feature a curated selection of artists spanning pop, hip-hop, country, música mexicana, and more. Future of Music will take place Thursday, March 12 through Saturday, March 14, 2026 at ACL Live at the Moody Theater.

U.K. pop singer Lola Young, who broke through with hits including “Messy,” will headline opening night on Thursday, March 12, bringing her raw, soulful songwriting and powerhouse vocals to the SXSW stage. The pioneering Mexican American group Fuerza Regida will headline Friday, March 13, showcasing their arena-sized energy and urban corrido sound, and they'll be joined by several acts from Street Mob Records, the label founded by Fuerza frontman Jesús Ortiz Paz. Texas native BigXthaPlug will close out the three-night run on Saturday, March 14, delivering his booming, gravel-throated flow and vivid storytelling heard on breakout tracks like “Texas.” Additional performers for all three nights will be announced in the coming weeks.

Today, the Golden Globes® announced presenters and special appearances set for “Golden Eve: The Golden Globes Honor Helen Mirren & Sarah Jessica Parker,” a new primetime special airing Thursday, January 8, 2026 at 8:00 PM ET/PT on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ in the U.S.*. In his role, Bracken will oversee all elements of production across Dick Clark Productions’ rich portfolio of shows including the “Golden Globes®,” “American Music Awards,” “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve,” “Golden Eve,” “Academy of Country Music Awards,” and more.

Ross anchors the most expansive and musically diverse telecast and lineup in the show’s more than 50-year history, with 39 artists appearing across New York, Las Vegas, Chicago, Puerto Rico and more, live on Wednesday, Dec. 31 from 8:00 p.m.–4:00 a.m. EDT on ABC, next day on Hulu.

Ross will step onto the world’s most iconic stage to celebrate with millions and welcome a new year with style, magic, and unforgettable music in what will be a defining moment in the show’s history. The Golden Globes Impact Prize for Documentary, presented by Artemis Rising Foundation as a Collateral Impact Award of the 82nd Venice International Film Festival, has been awarded to Remake, directed by Ross McElwee.

Jury members Helen Hoehne (Golden Globes President), Regina K. Scully (Artemis Rising Foundation Founder and CEO), Jharrel Jerome (Actor and Musician - Moonlight, When They See Us, Unstoppable), Teo Yoo (Actor - Past Lives, The Recruit, Karoshi), Geralyn White Dreyfous (Academy-Award winning Producer and co-founder of Impact Partners), Misan Sagay (Screenwriter - Belle), Edoardo Ponti (Director - The Life Ahead), and Danielle Turkov Wilson (CEO & Founder of Think-Film Impact Production) chose to recognise Remake by commenting that it is an incredibly emotional, personal, and moving film. The prize is supported by Venice Film Festival Artistic Director Alberto Barbera, who joined the jury on the red carpet and said, “Documentaries grow year after year in the consideration of the public and critics. For this reason, the new prize that Golden Globes and Artemis Rising Foundation are presenting to the best impact documentary on the occasion of the 82nd Venice Film Festival seems to me of great importance and value."

The jury collectively added, “The high standard of documentaries this year at the Venice Film Festival made this a matter for careful deliberation. We commend the Golden Globes for taking this step to recognise documentary more visibly, and hope that this prize continues to grow, and encourages greater industry investment overall into high-quality documentary films for the benefit of audiences and society.”

The prize honours a documentary feature film in the Biennale’s official selection, either in or out of competition, that is calling attention to a key social issue with journalistic and creative prowess. It is a continuation of the partners’ commitment to elevating documentary film, with effects that go beyond the scope of the festival. The winner will receive a cash prize of USD 10,000 from Artemis Rising Foundation, as well as an impact collaboration with Think-Film Impact Production, which will meaningfully take forward the potential of the film to realise tangible impact actions and outcomes.

About the prize

The Golden Globes initiated this prize for documentary first at Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, with a jury including actor and producer Tessa Thompson, which awarded Eugene Jarecki the Prize for his dedication to the documentary genre. Jarecki’s Cannes-premiering documentary on Julian Assange, THE SIX BILLION DOLLAR MAN, went on to win the L’Oeil d’or Special Jury Prize. This prize also builds on Think-Film’s established impact presence at Venice, where for the past two years it has presented the collateral Impact Award, honouring a film in the festival’s official competition selection for its social impact potential with an impact campaign collaboration.

Last night, global music authority Billboard brought R&B/Hip-Hop LIVE to the iconic Webster Hall in New York City, delivering an unforgettable night of music as part of Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Week. Sponsored by State Farm® and Ralph Lauren, the free event packed the venue with fans eager to celebrate the genre’s most exciting rising stars.

The evening culminated in a powerful headlining set from Leon Thomas, who thrilled the crowd with a surprise appearance by Ty Dolla $ign. Together, the duo lit up the stage with a high-energy performance of their collaboration “FAR FETCHED,” creating one of the night’s most unforgettable moments. Adding to the excitement, GELO, Odeal, Ravyn Lenae, and Armanii delivered performances that highlighted the depth of talent and creativity shaping today’s Hip-Hop and R&B landscape.

Before the show, Billboard toasted Leon Thomas along with his mentors Ty Dolla $ign and music executive Shawn Barron, co-founders of the label that signed and developed Thomas, at an exclusive cocktail ceremony. 

The Future of Music & Money, presented by UBS and powered by Feeture, honors visionary executives and groundbreaking artists who are reshaping the conversation around financial literacy and creating new pathways for fellow creators. 

The evening featured a special awards presentation recognizing those shaping the future of music and money with honorees including:

Guests also experienced L’Oréal – Ralph’s Club, which offered a custom photo moment and complimentary product samples from Ralph Lauren.

As part of Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Week, The Orchard hosted a special conversation “The Future of Hip-Hop is Global” on Wednesday, September 3, at NeueHouse Madison Square. Moderated by Billboard’s senior director of R&B/Hip-Hop, Carl Lamarre, and featuring Naji Grampus, VP of Urban Strategy, The Orchard, Wallo, Million Dollaz Worth of Game Podcast, Norva Denton, Head of Urban Music, Sony AWAL, and Shari Bryant, Founder, The Knip Agency; the panel explored how a democratized power dynamic is reshaping artist discovery and development, shifting the focus toward guiding and partnering with artists and their teams from diverse regions around the world. Panelists discussed the genre’s continued evolution and emphasized the critical role executives will play in breaking new acts on an international scale.

In addition, Billboard debuted its first-ever studio experience of Unfiltered Live on Wednesday, September 3, giving fans an up-close look at the culture through a lively conversation with special guests Cash Cobain and Zeddy Will. Hosted by Billboard’s Delisa Shannon and Kyle Denis, the event welcomed a live audience for the first time, marking an exciting new chapter for the Unfiltered Live franchise and spotlighting the artists and voices driving Hip-Hop and R&B forward.
