SXSW, the largest cultural event in the United States, today announced that Penske Media Corporation has transitioned from a majority stakeholder to full owner. The move represents a seamless evolution of a multi-year strategic partnership built on shared ambition, strong financial growth, and international expansion. SXSW will remain headquartered in Austin, where its flagship Conference & Festivals and SXSW EDU will continue to take place. SXSW 2027 runs March 15–21, preceded by SXSW EDU, March 13–16.

The partnership began in 2021, when PMC invested in SXSW following the severe financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, providing critical capital that helped secure the event’s future. Over the past several years, PMC and SXSW have worked together to strengthen the company’s long-term foundation, expand opportunities for programming, partnerships, and community building, and grow its global presence in Europe. SXSW will continue to be led from Austin, with a focus on preserving the deep community relationships that have long defined the event.

Founded by Roland Swenson, Nick Barbaro, Louis Jay Meyers and Louis Black, SXSW has played a central role in Austin’s evolution as an international destination for music, film, technology and the creative industries. Under their leadership, SXSW created a new model for bringing different industries and communities together and established a global event that remains deeply connected to its hometown.

“It's been a great joy and honor to help build this company from the ground up,” said Nick Barbaro, SXSW co-founder. “We could never have done this anywhere but Austin, and thanks to the hard work and dedication of so many talented people who’ve cared deeply about its purpose over the years, SXSW continues to impact the lives of countless artists and innovators around the world. It’s been a great ride and we look forward to watching SXSW continue to grow in vibrant new ways while remaining focused on helping creative people achieve their goals.”

"SXSW combines exceptional leadership and a proven playbook with a live event experience that is second to none." said Jay Penske, Chairman and CEO, Penske Media Corporation. “Premium live experiences are central to Penske Media’s future, and we are thrilled to increase our stake in SXSW, and provide the company with further backing and together write the most expansive chapter in its history."

The transaction reflects PMC’s continued investment in global live events that convene influential communities across entertainment, media, music, technology, fashion, art and culture. PMC’s portfolio of events and experiences already includes the Golden Globes, Latin Music Week, the Academy of Country Music Awards, the Billboard Music Awards, and New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, and over 315 additional live experiences produced and built by PMC brands including Billboard, Rolling Stone, Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, WWD and Sportico.

Since its founding in 1987, SXSW has grown from an Austin music event into an internationally recognized destination for discovery and connection across technology, film and television, music, education, comedy, culture and business. Each year, SXSW brings global creative and professional communities to Austin while providing a platform for the artists, entrepreneurs, innovators, and organizations that make the city distinctive.

Today, Women’s Wear Daily (WWD) proudly announces Bernard Arnault as the recipient of the 2026 John B. Fairchild Honor, WWD’s highest distinction. The award will be presented live during the WWD Honors ceremony on October 27, 2026, in New York City.

Presented annually at the WWD Honors ceremony, the John B. Fairchild Honor recognizes individuals whose creativity, vision, and leadership have left an enduring impact on the global fashion industry. Named for WWD’s legendary publisher, the John B. Fairchild Honor celebrates transformative careers that have shaped fashion and business on a global scale. Past recipients include Ralph Lauren, Giorgio Armani, Karl Lagerfeld, Leonard Lauder, Miuccia Prada, Tommy Hilfiger, Maria Grazia Chiuri, Brunello Cucinelli, Valentino Garavani and Giancarlo Giammetti.

The WWD Honors event, a star-studded gathering in New York City, brings together the industry's leading executives, creatives, and changemakers for an evening honoring those whose work continues to define the future of fashion, beauty, and retail, culminating with the presentation of the John B. Fairchild Honor.

“WWD’s John B. Fairchild Award honors an industry-defining legacy, and few leaders have shaped global luxury on the scale of Bernard Arnault,” said Amanda Smith, CEO, Fairchild Media Group. “Presenting him with this recognition is a watershed moment not only for WWD, but for the global fashion community. It is a testament to the very definition of leadership and to an individual with the rare ability to redefine the boundaries of vision, scale, and craftsmanship.”

“I am honored to receive the John B. Fairchild Award," said Arnault, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton. "I knew well and respected John and his approach to talking about creativity. He broadened WWD’s coverage to go beyond fashion into the people behind the business as well as expanding into beauty and culture, all areas that are important to LVMH.”

“Mr. Fairchild met scores of designers and executives throughout his legendary and groundbreaking career yet admired and spoke fondly of few, and one of those was Bernard Arnault. He lauded him of course for his business acumen but, above all, for his passion for creativity, one he shared with Mr. Fairchild.” said James Fallon, Chief Content Officer, Fairchild Media Group. “He would always talk excitedly about touring stores in Paris with him, and of course offering his honest and unfiltered opinions! It is an immense privilege to present this year’s WWD John B. Fairchild Honor to Mr. Arnault, one that I am sure would thrill Mr. Fairchild himself.”

"I am grateful to the teams at WWD for maintaining his legacy, for their ongoing support to our maisons and for keeping us informed and inspired,” Arnault added. “Thank you for giving me an honor bearing a legend’s name.”

WWD Honors is held in conjunction with the WWD Apparel & Retail CEO Summit, taking place October 27-28, 2026.

Today, Penske Media Corporation (PMC) announced the appointment of Brent Lang to Editor-in-Chief of IndieWire, effective August 17. Based in New York City, Lang will report to Jerry Ruiz, Senior Vice President, Operations & Finance, PMC.

A widely respected journalist and editor, Lang brings a distinctive combination of editorial leadership, industry expertise, and a deep commitment to ambitious, high-quality storytelling to IndieWire.

Lang most recently served as Executive Editor of Variety, where he covered the major Hollywood studios and their corporate parents. During his tenure, he wrote cover stories on many of the industry’s most notable figures, including Christopher Nolan, Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Kevin Hart, George Clooney, Mindy Kaling, Michelle Williams, Michael J. Fox, and Benedict Cumberbatch. Since joining Variety in 2014 as a Senior Film and Media Reporter, he rose through a series of leadership roles, including New York Bureau Chief and Executive Editor, Film and Media. In 2024, he was named Entertainment Journalist of the Year by the Los Angeles Press Club.

Before Variety, Lang was a Senior Reporter at TheWrap, and his work has also appeared in The Patriot-Ledger, The Providence Journal, CBSNews.com, and Forbes. He is a graduate of Brown University and the Columbia University School of Journalism.

“Brent is a dynamic and deeply respected editor whose experience, instincts, and creativity make him exceptionally well-suited to lead IndieWire,” said Ruiz. “He brings a sophisticated understanding of the entertainment industry, a strong editorial point of view, and a clear sense of where media is headed. Just as importantly, he understands what has always made IndieWire unique with its intelligence, its authority, and its commitment to championing bold voices and original storytelling. We are thrilled to welcome Brent to IndieWire and excited for the future of the brand under his leadership.”

“I’m deeply honored to take the editorial helm of a brand I’ve admired for many years,” said Lang. “IndieWire has long stood for smart, distinctive, and fearless journalism, and it has built an extraordinary legacy by championing artists, elevating emerging voices, and covering the industry with depth and conviction. I have enormous respect for IndieWire’s founder, Eugene Hernandez, and for Dana Harris-Bridson’s profound contributions. They are responsible for building a world-class brand. I’m also incredibly grateful to Jay Penske, Michelle Sobrino, Dea Lawrence, Ramin Setoodeh, and Cynthia Littleton for the opportunities they have given me over the years. At a time of great change across media and entertainment, I believe there is tremendous opportunity ahead for a brand that has always believed in bold ideas, fresh perspectives, and the enduring power of great storytelling.”

Lang succeeds Dana Harris-Bridson, whose 15 years of editorial leadership helped to shape IndieWire into the expansive and highly regarded brand it is today. During her tenure, IndieWire broadened its focus beyond independent film into television, blockbusters, and the crafts that define the industry, while also launching standout editorial franchises including Future of Filmmaking and the In Development newsletter. Harris-Bridson is stepping down to focus on building her own projects, an exciting next chapter that reflects both the depth of her experience and her genuine desire to devote her time and energy to work she’s passionate about.

“Dana has been instrumental in shaping IndieWire into the exceptional brand it is today,” said Ruiz. “Her leadership, editorial vision, and deep commitment to the brand have left a lasting mark on IndieWire and on the many people who have had the opportunity to work alongside her. We are deeply grateful for all she has contributed and for the strong foundation she leaves behind.”

“Dana’s contributions to IndieWire have been extraordinary,” said James Israel, Publisher of IndieWire. “Her leadership helped shape the brand’s editorial identity, expand its reach, and strengthen its standing within the entertainment community. We are deeply grateful for all she has done to help build IndieWire into what it is today. At the same time, I’m excited to work alongside Brent as we begin this next chapter and continue building on that foundation with energy, ambition, and optimism for what lies ahead.”

“It’s been the privilege of my career to help lead this team and this brand to where it is today,” said Harris-Bridson. “I’m proud of everything we built together, and I’m energized by what’s next.”

The transition comes at a moment of strong momentum for IndieWire. The brand recently earned two Daytime Emmy Award nominations for its inaugural Craft Roundtables series, and Lynne Howard was recently promoted to Senior Vice President of Operations, reporting to James Israel.

Together, these leadership appointments reflect IndieWire’s continued growth, as well as a shared commitment to the values that have long defined the brand: bold journalism, authoritative storytelling, and an enduring belief in the power of original voices and ambitious editorial vision.

Today, Rolling Stone announced that esteemed journalists Matt Bai and Katherine Eban will join the brand as it expands its coverage of national politics, public health, and the forces shaping American life. Bai will serve as National Affairs Columnist and Eban as National Investigative Correspondent, with both beginning their roles on January 1.

Bai, a veteran political columnist for The New York Times and The Washington Post, will write longform commentary and analysis on national affairs and conduct in-depth political interviews, offering deeper context on the forces shaping Washington. Eban, an award-winning investigative journalist and Vanity Fair special correspondent, will report at the intersection of public health, politics, and national security, bringing greater attention to issues that shape policy, institutions, and public life.

Rolling Stone has always valued ambitious writing and fearless reporting,” said Sean Woods, Co-Editor-in-Chief. “Matt brings a rare clarity to the currents driving national affairs, and Katherine’s investigative work reaches into systems and stories that demand scrutiny. They both embody a kind of independent, go-where-the-facts-lead journalism that has always been part of Rolling Stone’s DNA. Their work aligns with our focus on longform storytelling, sharp analysis, and reporting that travels across formats, helping our audience understand not just what’s happening, but why it matters.”

“Matt and Katherine are two of the most insightful journalists working today,” said Julian Holguin, CEO of Rolling Stone. “Their work reflects the kind of depth, analysis, and investigative rigor we’re committed to growing across Rolling Stone. As audiences look for reporting that cuts through the noise and helps make sense of an increasingly complicated world, we’re investing in voices and coverage that do exactly that, with authority, clarity, and impact across platforms.”

“It's an incredible honor to join Rolling Stone,” Bai said. “Having grown up reading Hunter Thompson and Bill Greider, I have deep respect for the platform and am thrilled to contribute to its next chapter. We’re at a critically important moment for the country, and I look forward to trying to make sense of it for readers in a way that’s independent and unpredictable.”

“Through its deep dive investigations, Rolling Stone has long been ahead of the curve,” Eban said. “I am honored to join an outlet that is fearless in pursuit of the truth and is committed to holding power to account. The role of a free press in asking tough questions and following stories wherever they lead has never been more important.”

Matt Bai is a nationally recognized journalist, author, and screenwriter with more than two decades of experience covering American politics. He was a contributing columnist for The Washington Post and previously spent more than a decade at The New York Times, where he served as chief political writer for the Sunday Magazine and later as the paper’s national political columnist. Bai has covered seven presidential campaigns and is the author of two acclaimed books, including All the Truth Is Out, his examination of the Gary Hart scandal that was adapted into the 2018 film The Front Runner, which he co-wrote. Earlier in his career, Bai reported for The Boston Globe and Newsweek, wrote speeches for UNICEF, and held fellowships at Harvard, Stanford, the University of Chicago, and the Wilson Center.

Katherine Eban is an award-winning investigative journalist and bestselling author whose reporting spans pharmaceutical safety, national security, and public health. She is the author of Bottle of Lies, a New York Times bestseller that earned multiple awards, and Dangerous Doses, an acclaimed investigation into America’s drug supply chain. Her work has sparked policy changes and inspired film and television projects, including her Vanity Fair article “Rorschach and Awe,” which was made into the 2019 film The Report. Eban has reported internationally, received a Rhodes Scholarship and is an Andrew Carnegie fellow. Her work has been recognized most recently with a George Polk award for national reporting, as well by organizations including the Overseas Press Club, Investigative Reporters & Editors, the National Association of Science Writers and the Association of Health Care Journalists.

“Golden Eve” will air as a marquee event during Golden Week, a new dynamic week-long experience across Paramount platforms as well as celebratory kick-off events ahead of the 83rd Annual Golden Globes®, the first major award show of the season, airing live Sunday, January 11, 2026 and hosted by acclaimed Golden Globe, GRAMMY® and Emmy®-nominated comedian and actress Nikki Glaser.

Following the success of last year’s inaugural Golden Gala honoring Cecil B. DeMille Award and Carol Burnett Award, airing nationally on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 8:00 PM ET/5:00 PM PT on the CBS Television Network and streaming on Paramount+.

The special will air as a marquee event during Golden Week, a new dynamic week-long experience across Paramount platforms as well as celebratory kick-off events ahead of the 83rd Annual Golden Globes®, the first major award show of the season, airing live Sunday, January 11, 2026 and hosted by acclaimed Golden Globe, GRAMMY® and Emmy®-nominated comedian and actress Nikki Glaser.

"With 'Golden Eve,' we will celebrate the industry's most talented and influential figures, recognizing the recipients of the prestigious Cecil B. DeMille Award and Carol Burnett Award. This is a chance to properly honor those who have so profoundly shaped our culture with more than a 2-minute awards moment. This event and special will occur during 'Golden Week,' a premier cross-platform initiative with CBS that transforms the Globes into a multi-day cultural event, making it a cornerstone of the awards season."

“CBS has long championed excellence in arts and entertainment and that will continue in 2026,” said Amy Reisenbach, President, CBS Entertainment. “With ‘Golden Eve’ and Golden Week, we’ll celebrate the Golden Globes across CBS and Paramount, creating an immersive experience that brings viewers closer to one of Hollywood’s most iconic events.”

Today, Billboard, the global authority in music, announced that tickets are officially on sale for the Live Music Summit Presented by VENU, returning Monday, November 3, 2025, at 1 Hotel West Hollywood. The one-day event will bring together top executives, artists, and innovators from across the live entertainment industry for panels, networking opportunities, and a special awards ceremony. Both the summit and awards will be programmed by Billboard Senior Editor Eric Renner Brown.

This year’s summit will feature a dynamic lineup of panels covering the most pressing topics in live entertainment including:

  • No Bots Allowed: Inside Chappell Roan's Fan-First Ticketing Strategy (Sponsored by AXS): When Chappell Roan announced her fall 2025 pop-up shows, she made it her mission to get tickets for the concerts into the hands of real fans. Partnering with AXS, she used the ticketing leader’s innovative tool, Fair AXS, to verify buyers – and stop bots and scalpers from hijacking the moment. In this panel, Dean Dewulf (AXS), Lauren McKinney (Foundations Artist Management), and Kristen Mitchell (Wasserman Nashville) will unpack how an artist’s vision, management strategy, and ticketing technology came together to protect Chappell's community and set a new standard for fan-first onsales.
  • The Women Leading The Booking Space (Sponsored by Allegiant Stadium): Today, it increasingly feels like women have broken the agency space's glass ceiling, yet women agents continue to face gender-specific challenges like navigating motherhood in a rapidly paced job. In this panel, four women whose careers are testaments to greater inclusivity in this sector – Jenna Adler (CAA), Marsha Vlasic (Independent Artist Group), and Elisa Vazzana (UTA) – will discuss navigating the live business, their clients' touring strategies and the status of that glass ceiling.

  • Building Touring's Sustainable Future With Maggie Baird: As Billie Eilish and Finneas have become leaders at the intersection of music and sustainability, so has their mother, Maggie Baird. Dating back to the earliest days of her kids' music careers, Baird has helped them to take an eco-conscious approach, and in 2020, she founded Support + Feed, which aims to mitigate climate change and increase food security by increasing accessibility to plant-based foods, including at large-scale events like concerts. Here, Baird will reflect on her work in the green touring space – and look ahead at the work that remains.

  • How Warped Tour Built A Lasting Legacy – And Returned In 2025: For decades, Warped Tour was a proving ground for punk, emo, and alt-rock artists – and an annual place where those fan communities could gather. In 2025, six years after Warped wrapped its initial 25-year run, the festival returned with three two-day events in California, Florida, and Washington, D.C. Here, Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman, Vans executive Steve Van Doren, Honey Revenge's Devin Papadol, and Pennywise's Fletcher Dragge look back on the event's legacy – and why it remains a touchstone today.

  • Spotlight Conversation – The Rise of Rauw Alejandro: In recent years, Rauw Alejandro has become one of the most in-demand Latin touring acts – and on his Cosa Nuestra World Tour this year, he took his high-concept stage production to another level. In this spotlight conversation, Rauw Alejandro and Live Nation SVP of global touring Hans Schafer will discuss the reggaeton artist's emergence as one of the live sector's most sought-after stars.

The day will also feature a networking lunch sponsored by AEG, an evening cocktail hour presented by Live Nation, and an awards ceremony recognizing leaders and innovators in live entertainment.

“Billboard’s Live Music Summit is an exclusive opportunity for concert-industry leaders, touring legends and rising stars to come together and shape the future of live entertainment,” said Hannah Karp, Editor-in-Chief, Billboard. “We’re thrilled to convene such a dynamic and powerful group of talent in Los Angeles this fall.”

Sponsors for the 2025 Live Music Summit include VENU, AEG Presents, Live Nation, Allegiant Stadium, AXS, Moody Center, Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, Tacoma Dome, and Gila River Resorts and Casinos.

SheKnows announced today the launch of How to Raise Adults, a new content series offering insights from teens on navigating the complex transition from adolescence to adulthood. Covering mental health, financial literacy, technology, relationships, and social trends, the series offers an authentic look into teen perspectives and the issues shaping the next generation. As part of the How to Raise Adults series, SheKnows is proud to partner with BetterHelp to spotlight accessible mental health resources that help teens build lifelong well-being.

Created in collaboration with SheKnows editors, recognized thought leaders, and the SheKnows Teen Council, the series combines expert guidance with teen-driven insights. The Council comprises 120 contributors ages 15–19, and to date has published over 50 articles and videos, reaching 8 million parents nationwide.

"One of our goals in establishing the SheKnows Teen Council was to include the kids in a parenting conversation that often lacks their voices," said SHE Media Chief Content Officer, Cristina Velocci.

Key Insights from the Teen Council

  • Money Talks Louder When It’s Self-Made: Teens admire men who build their own wealth. In a Teen Council focus group, 100% of participants respect Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk as leading sources of influence.
  • Trusted on Tech and Wealth, Not Politics: Elon Musk’s political credibility may be questioned by teens, but his advice on technology and wealth earns strong trust.

“I completely trust him. He’s like self-made. With a lot of rich people, you don’t know how they have their money. But you know that he was smart and had his own plan.” – Clive, 16

—“Majority of people trust him with all of their information, whether they want to or not.” – Olivia, 17

  • Parenting vs. Perspective: Many teens feel their parents’ worries about phones and AI are out of touch. They recognize social media’s downsides but find real-world experiences far more rewarding.
  • Seeking Support: 67% of 120 Teen Council members surveyed turn to friends and therapists over their dads for guidance.

SheKnows will unveil the full set of findings in a special report this fall.

Expert Perspectives

Through collaborations and interviews with leading experts and recognized thought leaders, the series equips parents with strategies to nurture resilience, confidence, and long-term well-being, helping to set children up for success.

“Your job as a parent is to help your kids figure out who they are, and you do that by really being curious about who they are.” – Mel Robbins, #1 New York Times bestselling author and award-winning podcast host

The full How to Raise Adults series, featuring expert guidance and teen-informed insights, is available at https://www.sheknows.com/p/how-to-raise-adults/

Today, Women’s Wear Daily (WWD) released its 115th Anniversary Special Issue, celebrating the publication’s legacy as the global authority in fashion, beauty, and retail, spotlighting the industry’s most influential luminaries.

"This special anniversary issue reflects WWD’s century-plus commitment to celebrating those who drive fashion, beauty, and retail forward," said Amanda Smith, CEO of Fairchild Media Group. "As we mark 115 years, we are proud to honor our historic legacy while building an innovative future. With a growing audience, a vibrant live events business, and unmatched industry insight, WWD is more energized than ever to innovate, inspire, and set the standard for the industries we cover worldwide."

The 115th Anniversary Issue of WWD reflects the legendary John B. Fairchild’s philosophy, focusing on the individuals whose work and influence define the industry and the broader cultural scene. The commemorative issue is organized into three categories: The Newsmakers, highlighting 115 designers, executives, and cultural figures shaping fashion, beauty, and retail today; The Originals, featuring 50 living legends whose work continues to resonate globally; and The Legends, honoring 50 industry figures who have passed but whose impact is enduring and irreplaceable. The issue also includes a reprint of a rare Fairchild interview from WWD’s 90th anniversary.

"Preparing WWD’s 115th anniversary issue has been both exciting and nerve-racking," said James Fallon, Chief Content Officer, Fairchild Media Group."Exciting because diving into the archives always uncovers surprises, from the people who shaped fashion and culture to words and phrases WWD helped bring into our industry vernacular. Nerve-racking because WWD’s history is so rich it’s impossible to capture in a single issue. At the heart of it all is the focus on the individuals who shape this industry — and that drives this anniversary issue, honoring them as Newsmakers, Originals, and Legends."

WWD is marking the milestone with a cocktail reception to kick off this year’s WWD Apparel & Retail CEO Summit in New York City in October, where the 2025 list of 115 Fashion and Beauty Newsmakers will be honored. The anniversary celebration also features a prominent visual tribute in New York’s Times Square today, highlighting WWD’s 115 years of influence in fashion, beauty, and retail.

With artful forays into R&B, alt-pop, reggaeton, and Latin strains, she’s has released several of the most lauded albums of the past decade: from her 2015 mixtape Por Vida, to her 2018 debut LP Isolation, the 2020 Spanish set Sin Miedo (del Amor y Otros Demonios), 2023's Red Moon in Venus, which features the 2x Platinum-certified “Moonlight,” and was regaled by TIME Magazine as the ‘Best Album of the Year,’ 2024’s ORQUÍDEAS, and now her most personal body of work, her forthcoming fifth studio album Sincerely, (5/9). The set closed the year on numerous “Best Albums” lists, racking up glowing praise from countless outlets including Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, Complex, and The New York Times. Amid consistent acclaim and honors — including nine GRAMMY®-nominations and a 2021 win in the category of Best Dance Song for her appearance on Kaytranada’s “10%”— Uchis’ major breakthrough came with her own 2021 smash hit “telepatía,” which has been streamed more than 2 billion times to date and was the Hot 100’s longest running Spanish-language song by a solo act this decade with a 23-week streak. Uchis is now on the way to reaching the Spotify Billions Club three times over with the smash success of songs “telepatía,” Tyler, The Creator’s “See You Again” (featuring Kali Uchis),” and soon to be “Moonlight.” Raised between Virginia and Colombia, Uchis has gone on to collaborate and share the stage with the likes of SZA, Tyler the Creator, Lana Del Rey, Gorillaz, Snoop Dogg, Rauw Alejandro, and her longtime partner Don Toliver, with whom she welcomed her first child last year.
