Art Week NYC today announced the participating cultural institutions and nonprofit organizations for its inaugural citywide event, taking place November 11–14, 2026. Art Week NYC will celebrate New York’s extraordinary art ecosystem by bringing together museums, cultural institutions, galleries, artists, collectors, and audiences across the city. Select museums and institutions are presented in partnership with Bloomberg Connects.
Art Week NYC will feature a full day of public programming presented in partnership with Artforum and the New Museum, Art Week’s primary institutional partner, on Saturday, November 14 at the New Museum Theater.
Under the banner of “Art and the City,” these five talks will feature artists, architects, filmmakers, critics, and writers in five conversations examining the forces shaping art and culture in New York. Topics will include the redesign of notable museum spaces across the city, the growing movement of artists into filmmaking, the economic conditions faced by artists working in New York, and the impact of machine intelligence on studio practice.
This collaboration coincides with a significant moment for the New Museum, including the largest survey to date of the work of Arthur Jafa; the first New York solo museum exhibition of artist Diego Marcon; an exhibition tracing four hundred years in the history of the Bowery; and a new commission by artist Ho Tzu Nyen in the OMA-designed expansion of the museum’s downtown home.
The New Museum’s Toby Devan Lewis Director, Massimiliano Gioni, said, “Art Week NYC is a new initiative that brings the art world together, in a city that has been historically shaped and transformed by artists. We are thrilled that the New Museum will be at its center, as a catalyst for dialogues between artists, architects, curators, filmmakers, and the public: we have always thought of our institution as a place of encounters and conversations—a public plaza for new ideas.”
Art Week NYC will further expand across the city via the participation of leading museums, cultural organizations, nonprofits, and civic institutions.
Designed around the gallery neighborhoods, Art Week NYC will connect programming across Chelsea, Tribeca, the Lower East Side, the Upper East Side, and beyond. The citywide format will encourage audiences to move through New York and experience galleries, museums, cultural institutions, public spaces, and neighborhood destinations as part of one interconnected art week.
“New York City's world-renowned galleries and museums draw art lovers from all over the globe, but they belong first and foremost to the New Yorkers who live here,” said City Council Speaker Julie Menin. “Art Week NYC opens the door for our city's own artists and art lovers to support and be inspired by the creative institutions in our own backyard. The success of our city's cultural sphere has always been built on the voices and hearts of New Yorkers, and this week gives more of them a way to take part.”
“New York City’s cultural landscape is one of our greatest strengths, but it only thrives when New Yorkers are able to experience it, explore it and see themselves as part of it,” said Deputy Speaker Dr. Nantasha Williams. “A thriving cultural ecosystem creates opportunities on both sides: greater visibility and new audiences for artists, and greater access for New Yorkers to the range of art being created and presented across our city. Art Week NYC creates an opportunity to open more doors, bring new audiences into galleries and museums across the city, and introduce people to artists and cultural spaces they may not otherwise encounter. I’m excited about the energy Art Week will bring to our neighborhoods and the opportunity to deepen New Yorkers’ connection to the arts across our city.”

Penske Media Corporation purchases the world’s most recognizable trade publication.
October 9, 2012 – LOS ANGELES – Penske Media Corporation (“PMC”), a leading digital media and publishing company, announced today it had purchased Variety from Reed Business Information, part of Reed Elsevier. Terms of the asset purchase agreement between the parties were not disclosed.
Jay Penske, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of PMC, said, “Since 1905, Variety has been the world’s premier entertainment news source, and is today one of the most recognized global media brands. We are thrilled to welcome Variety and its exceptional team into the PMC organization. As part of this significant acquisition, we plan to rapidly build upon Variety’s foundation while extending this invaluable brand’s presence across the web, broadcast, mobile, and international markets.”
“We are enthusiastic that PMC will become the new steward of the great Variety franchise, which Reed Elsevier has built over the past 25 years, and the Silverman family for the 80 years before that,” said Neil Stiles, President of Variety. He added, “PMC is uniquely positioned to preserve and build the market presence of Variety. Their shared values and complementary assets provides for many new opportunities for the business model and brand.”
For more than a century, Variety has set the standard for comprehensive and relevant entertainment industry news, with resolute attention to the highest journalistic standards. The Variety business today includes Daily Variety, Weekly Variety, Conferences & Events, along with Variety.com’s searchable archives, interactive box office charting, credits database, film and television data business, in-depth industry calendar, and reviews dating back to 1914.
Mark Kelsey, CEO of Reed Business Information, said: “Variety is an iconic title serving the film and entertainment industry for more than 100 years. With RBI’s increasing focus on data services, it makes sense for us to sell the Variety business. Variety has an incredibly talented team who have successfully innovated and expanded the franchise in industry news and analysis. I have no doubt the business will continue to thrive under PMC’s ownership.”
“We couldn’t be more excited to now operate two of the finest brands in business of entertainment category,” said Nic Paul, SVP Entertainment Sales at PMC. He added, “Deadline.com’s supremacy in breaking news, and Variety’s extraordinary content and industry analysis, coupled with readership that combines key industry decision makers and influencers, creates a compelling value proposition for our partners and advertisers.”

December 7, 2012
CALABASAS, California – The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS) today announced a multi-year, exclusive partnership with Penske Media Corporation (PMC), a leading digital media and publishing company, to co-produce the annual D.I.C.E. Through the partnership, AIAS will also collaborate with PMC’s entertainment publication Variety on video game industry-related content. Additionally, AIAS and PMC revealed one of the top entertainment networks on YouTube, Machinima, has signed on to live stream the 16th annual D.I.C.E. Awards show. The D.I.C.E. With brands across the web, television, mobile and social channels, PMC brings extensive expertise gained from blending traditional entertainment brands, emerging lifestyle brands, and breakout awards shows with new interactive technologies and programming. In the new partnership, PMC will work hand-in-hand with the Academy to enhance the D.I.C.E. PMC brands – Variety, Deadline, TVLine, MovieLine, BGR and Hollywood Life – reach over 113 million monthly unique US visitors and are ranked number 43 on Comscore (as of September 2012).
“PMC has a compelling grasp of traditional and new media industries that will help elevate the D.I.C.E Summit and Awards show to the next level to celebrate the best our industry has to offer – from console to PC to mobile games. With their recent acquisition of Variety, we’re thrilled to work with them to expand coverage of the video games business,” said Martin Rae, President, Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences. “And now with Machinima on board to support our awards show with their creative staff, original programming, and network of YouTube affiliates and directors, this will be an exciting year for AIAS and our members.”
“We’ve been eager to expand our entertainment coverage to the gaming industry, but waited for the right opportunity to enter this ascending marketplace—forging a long-term partnership with the AIAS for the 2013 D.I.C.E. Summit and Awards is the perfect way for PMC to make such an entrance, and we’re thrilled with the opportunity,” said Jay Penske, PMC Founder, Chairman, and CEO. “Since our founding in 2004, we’ve watched video games become a multi-billion dollar industry and a hugely influential contributor to the entertainment industry as a whole. Through all of our branded channels and media platforms, including our premier entertainment trade Variety, we’ll be providing the coverage and attention that the gaming industry has deserved for years–as such an incredibly important part of the entertainment ecosystem.”
“The D.I.C.E.
