SXSW, the largest cultural event in the United States, today announced that Penske Media Corporation has transitioned from a majority stakeholder to full owner. The move represents a seamless evolution of a multi-year strategic partnership built on shared ambition, strong financial growth, and international expansion. SXSW will remain headquartered in Austin, where its flagship Conference & Festivals and SXSW EDU will continue to take place. SXSW 2027 runs March 15–21, preceded by SXSW EDU, March 13–16.

The partnership began in 2021, when PMC invested in SXSW following the severe financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, providing critical capital that helped secure the event’s future. Over the past several years, PMC and SXSW have worked together to strengthen the company’s long-term foundation, expand opportunities for programming, partnerships, and community building, and grow its global presence in Europe. SXSW will continue to be led from Austin, with a focus on preserving the deep community relationships that have long defined the event.

Founded by Roland Swenson, Nick Barbaro, Louis Jay Meyers and Louis Black, SXSW has played a central role in Austin’s evolution as an international destination for music, film, technology and the creative industries. Under their leadership, SXSW created a new model for bringing different industries and communities together and established a global event that remains deeply connected to its hometown.

“It's been a great joy and honor to help build this company from the ground up,” said Nick Barbaro, SXSW co-founder. “We could never have done this anywhere but Austin, and thanks to the hard work and dedication of so many talented people who’ve cared deeply about its purpose over the years, SXSW continues to impact the lives of countless artists and innovators around the world. It’s been a great ride and we look forward to watching SXSW continue to grow in vibrant new ways while remaining focused on helping creative people achieve their goals.”

"SXSW combines exceptional leadership and a proven playbook with a live event experience that is second to none." said Jay Penske, Chairman and CEO, Penske Media Corporation. “Premium live experiences are central to Penske Media’s future, and we are thrilled to increase our stake in SXSW, and provide the company with further backing and together write the most expansive chapter in its history."

The transaction reflects PMC’s continued investment in global live events that convene influential communities across entertainment, media, music, technology, fashion, art and culture. PMC’s portfolio of events and experiences already includes the Golden Globes, Latin Music Week, the Academy of Country Music Awards, the Billboard Music Awards, and New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, and over 315 additional live experiences produced and built by PMC brands including Billboard, Rolling Stone, Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, WWD and Sportico.

Since its founding in 1987, SXSW has grown from an Austin music event into an internationally recognized destination for discovery and connection across technology, film and television, music, education, comedy, culture and business. Each year, SXSW brings global creative and professional communities to Austin while providing a platform for the artists, entrepreneurs, innovators, and organizations that make the city distinctive.

Today, Women’s Wear Daily (WWD) proudly announces Bernard Arnault as the recipient of the 2026 John B. Fairchild Honor, WWD’s highest distinction. The award will be presented live during the WWD Honors ceremony on October 27, 2026, in New York City.

Presented annually at the WWD Honors ceremony, the John B. Fairchild Honor recognizes individuals whose creativity, vision, and leadership have left an enduring impact on the global fashion industry. Named for WWD’s legendary publisher, the John B. Fairchild Honor celebrates transformative careers that have shaped fashion and business on a global scale. Past recipients include Ralph Lauren, Giorgio Armani, Karl Lagerfeld, Leonard Lauder, Miuccia Prada, Tommy Hilfiger, Maria Grazia Chiuri, Brunello Cucinelli, Valentino Garavani and Giancarlo Giammetti.

The WWD Honors event, a star-studded gathering in New York City, brings together the industry's leading executives, creatives, and changemakers for an evening honoring those whose work continues to define the future of fashion, beauty, and retail, culminating with the presentation of the John B. Fairchild Honor.

“WWD’s John B. Fairchild Award honors an industry-defining legacy, and few leaders have shaped global luxury on the scale of Bernard Arnault,” said Amanda Smith, CEO, Fairchild Media Group. “Presenting him with this recognition is a watershed moment not only for WWD, but for the global fashion community. It is a testament to the very definition of leadership and to an individual with the rare ability to redefine the boundaries of vision, scale, and craftsmanship.”

“I am honored to receive the John B. Fairchild Award," said Arnault, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton. "I knew well and respected John and his approach to talking about creativity. He broadened WWD’s coverage to go beyond fashion into the people behind the business as well as expanding into beauty and culture, all areas that are important to LVMH.”

“Mr. Fairchild met scores of designers and executives throughout his legendary and groundbreaking career yet admired and spoke fondly of few, and one of those was Bernard Arnault. He lauded him of course for his business acumen but, above all, for his passion for creativity, one he shared with Mr. Fairchild.” said James Fallon, Chief Content Officer, Fairchild Media Group. “He would always talk excitedly about touring stores in Paris with him, and of course offering his honest and unfiltered opinions! It is an immense privilege to present this year’s WWD John B. Fairchild Honor to Mr. Arnault, one that I am sure would thrill Mr. Fairchild himself.”

"I am grateful to the teams at WWD for maintaining his legacy, for their ongoing support to our maisons and for keeping us informed and inspired,” Arnault added. “Thank you for giving me an honor bearing a legend’s name.”

WWD Honors is held in conjunction with the WWD Apparel & Retail CEO Summit, taking place October 27-28, 2026.

Today, Penske Media Corporation (PMC) announced the appointment of Brent Lang to Editor-in-Chief of IndieWire, effective August 17. Based in New York City, Lang will report to Jerry Ruiz, Senior Vice President, Operations & Finance, PMC.

A widely respected journalist and editor, Lang brings a distinctive combination of editorial leadership, industry expertise, and a deep commitment to ambitious, high-quality storytelling to IndieWire.

Lang most recently served as Executive Editor of Variety, where he covered the major Hollywood studios and their corporate parents. During his tenure, he wrote cover stories on many of the industry’s most notable figures, including Christopher Nolan, Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Kevin Hart, George Clooney, Mindy Kaling, Michelle Williams, Michael J. Fox, and Benedict Cumberbatch. Since joining Variety in 2014 as a Senior Film and Media Reporter, he rose through a series of leadership roles, including New York Bureau Chief and Executive Editor, Film and Media. In 2024, he was named Entertainment Journalist of the Year by the Los Angeles Press Club.

Before Variety, Lang was a Senior Reporter at TheWrap, and his work has also appeared in The Patriot-Ledger, The Providence Journal, CBSNews.com, and Forbes. He is a graduate of Brown University and the Columbia University School of Journalism.

“Brent is a dynamic and deeply respected editor whose experience, instincts, and creativity make him exceptionally well-suited to lead IndieWire,” said Ruiz. “He brings a sophisticated understanding of the entertainment industry, a strong editorial point of view, and a clear sense of where media is headed. Just as importantly, he understands what has always made IndieWire unique with its intelligence, its authority, and its commitment to championing bold voices and original storytelling. We are thrilled to welcome Brent to IndieWire and excited for the future of the brand under his leadership.”

“I’m deeply honored to take the editorial helm of a brand I’ve admired for many years,” said Lang. “IndieWire has long stood for smart, distinctive, and fearless journalism, and it has built an extraordinary legacy by championing artists, elevating emerging voices, and covering the industry with depth and conviction. I have enormous respect for IndieWire’s founder, Eugene Hernandez, and for Dana Harris-Bridson’s profound contributions. They are responsible for building a world-class brand. I’m also incredibly grateful to Jay Penske, Michelle Sobrino, Dea Lawrence, Ramin Setoodeh, and Cynthia Littleton for the opportunities they have given me over the years. At a time of great change across media and entertainment, I believe there is tremendous opportunity ahead for a brand that has always believed in bold ideas, fresh perspectives, and the enduring power of great storytelling.”

Lang succeeds Dana Harris-Bridson, whose 15 years of editorial leadership helped to shape IndieWire into the expansive and highly regarded brand it is today. During her tenure, IndieWire broadened its focus beyond independent film into television, blockbusters, and the crafts that define the industry, while also launching standout editorial franchises including Future of Filmmaking and the In Development newsletter. Harris-Bridson is stepping down to focus on building her own projects, an exciting next chapter that reflects both the depth of her experience and her genuine desire to devote her time and energy to work she’s passionate about.

“Dana has been instrumental in shaping IndieWire into the exceptional brand it is today,” said Ruiz. “Her leadership, editorial vision, and deep commitment to the brand have left a lasting mark on IndieWire and on the many people who have had the opportunity to work alongside her. We are deeply grateful for all she has contributed and for the strong foundation she leaves behind.”

“Dana’s contributions to IndieWire have been extraordinary,” said James Israel, Publisher of IndieWire. “Her leadership helped shape the brand’s editorial identity, expand its reach, and strengthen its standing within the entertainment community. We are deeply grateful for all she has done to help build IndieWire into what it is today. At the same time, I’m excited to work alongside Brent as we begin this next chapter and continue building on that foundation with energy, ambition, and optimism for what lies ahead.”

“It’s been the privilege of my career to help lead this team and this brand to where it is today,” said Harris-Bridson. “I’m proud of everything we built together, and I’m energized by what’s next.”

The transition comes at a moment of strong momentum for IndieWire. The brand recently earned two Daytime Emmy Award nominations for its inaugural Craft Roundtables series, and Lynne Howard was recently promoted to Senior Vice President of Operations, reporting to James Israel.

Together, these leadership appointments reflect IndieWire’s continued growth, as well as a shared commitment to the values that have long defined the brand: bold journalism, authoritative storytelling, and an enduring belief in the power of original voices and ambitious editorial vision.

Press Releases

Today, South by Southwest® (SXSW®) unveiled its new 2026 vision: bringing music, film & TV, and innovation programming together for seven concurrent days in downtown Austin, while honoring four decades of creative discovery and connection that has defined the event.

March 12-18, 2026, SXSW will run all programming simultaneously for the first time, creating deeper opportunities for the creative exchange between industries that has been SXSW's signature since 1987. The Music Festival expands to seven nights, and SXSW Interactive becomes SXSW Innovation, a change that reflects the broader scope of industries that now call SXSW home. SXSW EDU will run March 9-12, with March 12 as a full crossover day between the events.

The transformation comes as downtown Austin itself evolves, with the Austin Convention Center undergoing major redevelopment. SXSW 2026 will expand throughout the city center, creating themed neighborhoods that give each creative community a dedicated space while expanding the spontaneous encounters that have launched careers and sparked creative and business collaborations each year.

“The next four years present an incredible opportunity for SXSW,” said Jenny Connelly, Director in Charge of SXSW. “With the Austin Convention Center under construction, we’ve embraced the chance to reimagine the event and explore new, exciting possibilities. Our creative community is eager for impactful, immersive experiences, and we’re thrilled to bring them to life across Austin this March.”

"SXSW is a meeting place for creatives, and serves as a point of inspiration and meaningful insights that will define how we work, play, and connect, " said Peter Lewis, Chief of Partnerships and Strategy. “We are excited about curating even more touchpoints and pathways for impactful collaboration amongst our partners and the extraordinary SXSW audiences.”Applications are now open for PanelPicker® conference proposals, Music Festival showcasing artists, SXSW Pitch, and SXSW Innovation Awards. Film & TV Festival submissions will open in July.

“SXSW showcases the biggest ideas set to impact the next wave of creativity and innovation across technology, design, film, TV, music, education, and business,” said Greg Rosenbaum, VP of programming for SXSW and co-founder of SXSW EDU. “The voice of the community remains the beating heart of SXSW and the launch of our applications is an open call to participate in our programming process.”

The reimagined SXSW 2026 creates badge-specific neighborhoods throughout downtown Austin, supporting focused engagement and exploration:

  • Music Festival & Conference badges access showcases and music industry programming.
  • Film & TV Festival & Conference badges unlock screening venues and industry sessions.
  • Innovation badges provide access to tech & innovation programming and community spaces.
  • Platinum badges offer complete access to all three creative communities.

All badges include access to keynotes, featured sessions, exhibitions, and citywide experiences.

The concurrent format and community homebases deliver to attendees a way to experience the full spectrum of SXSW, but also experience the distinct identity and depth each community values. The evolution from “interactive” to “innovation” acknowledges the growth of SXSW’s technology programming  beyond its 1990s digital roots to encompass healthcare advancements, sustainable business practices, marketing evolution, and startup culture across industries.

Additionally, the Music Festival’s expansion to seven consecutive nights creates additional showcase opportunities. For the past several years, SXSW Music has focused on curating more opportunities for participating acts, audiences and industry to connect with each other. The festival will maintain a similar venue footprint to recent years while optimizing the experience for artist development, industry and fans.

"SXSW Music is leveling up in 2026 and beyond," said Brian Hobbs, VP of Music Festival Programming. "Seven nights of showcases means more opportunities for artists to get their moment, and for music lovers to experience breakthrough performances throughout the event."

Today, SXSW also unveiled the first glimpse of its 2026 key art, created in partnership with Austin-based design firm Overstory and Taiwanese-American illustrator Josh Cochran. The vibrant illustration depicts diverse creatives gathering in Austin's reimagined downtown landscape, embodying the festival's "All Together Now" spirit.

Last night, IndieWire, the definitive outlet for creative independence in film and TV, hosted its bi-annual IndieWire Honors event at NeueHouse in Hollywood celebrating the brightest talents and most compelling stories shaping television today. Hosted by comedian and “Hacks” star Robby Hoffman, the evening radiated humor, emotional tributes, and unabashed honesty as it recognized acclaimed projects and incredible achievements in the TV industry.

The event honored creatives and performers whose work pushed the medium forward, including Ben Stiller and Jessica Lee Gagné (Severance), Mara Brock Akil (Forever), Kathy Bates (Matlock), Colin Farrell (The Penguin), Julianne Nicholson (Paradise), Aminah Nieves (1923), and Owen Cooper (Adolescence).

Key Moments:

Breakout Award Winner Owen Cooper on Acting: “It’s an honor to be here. What started off as a hobby to landing the role in ‘Adolescence,’ acting has really taken me out of my comfort zone and inspired me to learn and soak up knowledge from other experienced actors.”

Ben Stiller in response to Hoffman’s request that honorees establish if they are Nepo Babies: “I am a nepo baby. Full-on, full-on nepo baby. And Owen Cooper, shame on you. I'm gonna tell Bradley you did not mention him, ‘cause we know the truth.”

Robby Hoffman on Ben Stiller: I've been a huge Ben Stiller fan since my mother rented “Keeping the Faith” from the Korean video store next door to our house. I watched that movie over and over again at a pivotal time in my life. I couldn't tell if I was more attracted to Jenna Elfman, who's a Scientologist, or Ben Stiller and his forearms. Ben, do us all a favor. Roll up a sleeve.”

Robby Hoffman on Nepos “Nepos, I feel for you, but what's the worst thing for nepos? What? It's a little embarrassing. Who cares. You're rich, you're famous, your wife is hot. I would take a little embarrassing over being poor any day. Trust me, I've been poor. It's way worse.”

Ben Stiller on Working with Cinematographer Jessica Lee Gagné: “I am so grateful for the collaboration that we have been able to have together. Jessica is one of the most talented people I've ever met, and I feel lucky that we have been able to work together, to unlock parts of ourselves that we haven't been able to before."

Julianne Nicholson on the Roles She is Drawn To: “Thank you to IndieWire for this recognition and being a champion of me and my work over the years. I believe in trying to find roles that defy stereotypes that try to show life as it really is, not as we wish it were. I've always cared for the underdog, for the scrappy, the perverse, the weird, the unorthodox, and I think by and large IndieWire does, too. Over the years in film, and now in television, it has always made this job feel a little less lonely and some of the choices I've made less marginal. There's a community of artists and writers and journalists who are broadly working toward the same goal. And so, for me, and many other artists who feel the same way about you, who just want to do good work in a medium that we cherish, I want to thank IndieWire. We feel there are people out there who are watching and caring and wanting these things, too.”

“The Penguin” makeup artist Mike Marino on AI in Hollywood: “It means a lot to be recognized for something that was done entirely by human hands. The clay, glue, rubber, inspiration, and the intention to create something special. There was no AI involved here, no shortcuts. Just time, thought, and trust. And Colin Farrell was fully committed, and I'm grateful for his patience through the process. It's many, many thousands of steps to do something so realistic. We’re in a time when AI can create basically anything convincingly right now, but that doesn't make it a substitute for human creativity. If we want to protect the soul of filmmaking, we have to protect the people who make it. Thank you, IndieWire, for recognizing that.”

Kathy Bates on Matlock's Success: “We've been so excited about Matlock from its inception and are always talking about the latest episode and the fantastic ratings. 16 million. And that's per episode.”

Global music authority Billboard celebrated its inaugural Global Power Players event with an exclusive gathering at London’s Shoreditch House. The evening brought together music’s top international executives and artists - marking the first time Billboard has assembled its Global Power Players honorees in one room to recognize their impact on the global music industry.

The likes of Sir Elton John and his husband and manager David Furnish, afrobeats superstar Tems and EMPIRE founder and CEO Ghazi Shami were recognised with awards.

Among the night’s highlights:

  • Sir Elton John and his husband and manager David Furnish were honored with the first-ever Creators’ Champion Award for their leadership in defending artists’ rights. The award recognizes their outspoken advocacy for legislation that would require tech companies to disclose and license the music used to train AI models.
  • Ghazi Shami, founder and CEO of San Francisco-based EMPIRE, received the prestigious Clive Davis Visionary Award, which celebrates bold leadership and innovation in the music industry. Selected by Billboard’s editorial team, the award is named after the legendary executive Clive Davis.
  • Billboard presented the Diamond Award, a recognition of excellence and influence in African music, to Nigerian star Tems, who tonight, June 5th, headlines Billboard Presents The Stage as part of SXSW London. Billboard hosts The Stage at SXSW Austin for three nights each year, featuring big-name headliners across genres. Launching the series in London marks a significant milestone for Billboard as it expands its global celebration of talent.
  • As part of the Diamond Award celebration, Billboard announced the launch of Billboard Africa, further expanding its global presence. Africa and its diaspora have long been the birthplace of musical innovation, influencing genres worldwide. This launch celebrates that legacy and creates a dedicated platform to spotlight the continent’s powerful and evolving sound.

Honored with the Creators’ Champion Award, Elton John said Thank you to Billboard for honouring myself and David Furnish with the Creators’ Champion Award. Supporting the next generation of British artists is one of the major driving forces in my life. As everyone in that room was aware, the Data Bill is currently looming over our industries and the future livelihood of all artists. It is an existential issue.

Let’s be clear - we want to work with the government. We are not anti A.I. We are not anti Big Tech. We are not against Labour. We want a solution that brings all parties together in a way that’s transparent, fair and allows artists to maintain control of their work.

We will not let The Government forget their promise to support our creative industries. We will not back down and we will not quietly go away. This is just the beginning.

Thank you Billboard. And thank you Baroness Kidron and The House of Lords for standing up for our world-beating artists, journalists, playwrights, designers and authors.”

After receiving the Diamond Award, Tems shared her thoughts, saying “Thank you so much to Billboard. I am honoured to be here. African music is moving to heights it has never been before, and Billboard is one of those key players in moving that needle forward in Africa.”

On receiving the Clive Davis Visionary Award, Ghazi Shami said This means a lot to me…It’s all too surreal, and all I would say is never lose sight of how it all started, and for me, it all started with the music.”

Billboard CEO Mike Van commented Thank you for welcoming us here to London. What you're experiencing tonight is the first step into how Billboard is expanding globally.

Billboard Editor In Chief Hannah Karp added “This is the first time that we have gathered all of our global power players in one room to celebrate their leadership, and we thank you all so much for coming.”

For years, Billboard’s Global Power Players list has recognized the international executives shaping the music business beyond the U.S., while its Power 100 event in Los Angeles has celebrated domestic leadership. Now, with Billboard’s rapidly expanding global footprint - spanning 16 international editions in more than 10 languages - the 2025 Global Power Players were welcomed to London for an evening of networking, recognition, and celebration of global music excellence.

About the “2025 American Music Awards”:

  • Celebrating the year’s most iconic music—the American Music Awards is the world’s largest fan-voted award show honoring today’s most influential artists and their passionate fanbases. This Memorial Day, the AMAs will pay special tribute to our U.S. troops and veterans through authentic performances and unforgettable moments.
  • In-show fundraising moments benefited Veteran service organizations across the country, including the Bob Woodruff Foundation, Boot Campaign, Congressional Medal of Honor Society, Fisher House, The Folded Flag Foundation, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, Team Rubicon, and UNLV’s Military and Veteran Services Center. A portion of ticket sales benefited the Easy Day Foundation and its partners, and a portion of audience seating was reserved for veteran attendees in recognition of their service.
  • With a minimum suggested donation of $25 at EasyDay.org/boots, supporters were entered to win a pair of Boot Campaign tactical boots signed by celebrity attendees of the AMAs. These boots serve as a powerful symbol of strength, sacrifice and the continued challenges Veterans face after their service. All proceeds will benefit the Easy Day Foundation, which provides vital resources to help Veterans transition successfully into civilian life.
  • The “2025 American Music Awards” winners are voted entirely by fans. Nominees are based on key fan interactions – as reflected on the Billboard charts – including streaming, album and song sales, radio airplay and tour grosses. These measurements are tracked by Billboard and Luminate, the entertainment industry's most trusted data partner, and cover the data tracking eligibility period of March 22, 2024, through March 20, 2025.
  • Created by legendary producer and visionary Dick Clark and first awarded in 1974, the AMAs is known for delivering half a century worth of iconic performances, enduring moments that have defined and shaped pop culture, as well as a history of introducing audiences to breakthrough artists.
  • This year marks the return of the AMAs following October 2024’s top-rated “American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special” on CBS - named one of the most-watched entertainment specials of the year.  As the most-streamed AMAs in the show's history, the star-studded special surpassed 13M in reach and averaged over 6.1M viewers, an increase of +53% from the last show in 2022 on ABC, making it the largest year over year growth of a music special or award show in the world.

Today, CBS and Dick Clark Productions announced that Award-winning, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame®️ Inductee and philanthropist Janet Jackson will receive the prestigious ICON Award at the “2025 American Music Awards,” an honor bestowed upon an artist whose music has had undeniable cultural and global influence over the music industry. The global phenomenon and 11-time American Music Award-winner, will also take to the stage, marking her first television performance since 2018. This year’s American Music Awards will kick off summer with host Jennifer Lopez live from the all-new luxury resort, Fontainebleau Las Vegas, on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26. Promising to be a night of unforgettable performances, including from Lopez herself, the 51st AMAs will air live coast to coast at 8:00 PM ET / 5:00 PM PT on the CBS Television Network, and stream on Paramount+ in the U.S.*  Tickets to the star-studded show are available now on Ticketmaster.

Celebrating 50 years in the music industry, Jackson is still making an impact including the recent viral craze on social media of her Billboard 100 high-energy dance track “Someone To Call My Lover” that catapulted the song back on the Billboard charts, nearly 24 years after its original release, reaching #3 on the R&B Digital Songs chart and achieving a 1,400% gain in year-to-date U.S. on-demand streams for the hit according to Luminate. “Someone to Call My Lover” originally debuted at #3 and was the second single from her chart-topping, seventh studio album, “All For You.”

She’s also set to kick off yet another leg of her wildly popular Las Vegas residency, JANET JACKSON: LAS VEGAS, returning to the Resorts World Theatre stage on May 21, 2025 for a six-show run through May 31, 2025.

Janet Jackson is one of the most influential entertainers of the modern era. Her music has won her 5 GRAMMY® Awards, 2 Emmy Awards, a Golden Globe Award, a nomination for an Academy Award along with dozens of American Music Awards, MTV Video Music Awards and Billboard Music Awards. She has received accolades as an actress as well including the NAACP Best Supporting Actor award. Janet is a published author, dancer, businessperson, philanthropist and one of biggest-selling artists in popular music history. With sales of over 180 million records worldwide, Janet Jackson stands as one of the best-selling artists of all time with a string of hits that have left an indelible impression on pop culture. She is the record holder for the biggest selling debut tour in history and is the first woman to debut in the top 10 of the Hot 100 chart. She also stands as one of only four artists to have a #1 album on the Billboard 200 in the 1980s, '90s, '00s and '10s — alongside Bruce Springsteen, Barbra Streisand and U2. Even today she continues to make an undeniable impact. In 2018, her last single, “Made for Now” with Daddy Yankee, released by her own Rhythm Nation Records, hit #1 on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs chart making it her 20th single on the chart in the span of her career. In 2019, she was inducted the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame alongside her brothers and in that same year her critically acclaimed Las Vegas residency, “Metamorphosis” closed out to record breaking ticket sales with only 18 dates at the Park MGM’s Park Theater. As reported by Billboard Boxscore, the legendary singer, dancer, songwriter, producer, and actress was among the biggest Vegas performers of the 2010s, ahead of Celine Dion (2011), Britney Spears (2013) and the Backstreet Boys (2017). Her critically acclaimed and award winning documentary “Janet Jackson.” brought in over 20 million viewers in one week.

On February 4, 2021, Janet Jackson’s iconic mega platinum-selling third album Control turned 35. The album also returned to the top of the charts, hitting #1 on the Apple Top 40 US Pop Album chart. Led by five chart-busting hit singles — “What Have You Done for Me Lately,” “Nasty,” “Control,” “When I Think Of You,” —with their complementary, tightly choreographed music videos — and “Let’s Wait Awhile,” Control became Jackson’s first No. 1 Pop album.  The album also made Billboard chart history as the first by a woman to yield five top 10-charting singles on the Billboard Hot 100. To date, Control has sold more than 10 million copies worldwide. She followed Control with Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814, which is, as of May 2025, the only album to generate seven top five-charting songs on the Billboard Hot 100. She went even further with her next album, janet., as it tallied six more top 10-charting songs on the Hot 100. In turn, she became the first artist to notch five or more top 10s on the Billboard Hot 100 from three different albums.

In 2023, her highly successful “Together Again” tour became the icon’s highest grossing trek of her career which featured 36 sold out shows and received rave reviews from fans and press. Okayplayer said “Janet has still got it, serving as our beloved sex symbol, superstar, and Queen of Pop that no one has come close to emulating.” The Chicago Tribune confirmed, “Being a performer, a showstopper, a true delight is not just what Janet Jackson does. It is who she is.” And the Boston Globe claimed, “Jackson is a killer live act.”

In December 2024, Jackson launched her exclusive residency, JANET JACKSON: LAS VEGAS, at Resorts World Theatre at Resorts World Las Vegas to sold-out crowds over New Year's Week. The critically-acclaimed production is packed with the electric high-energy and chart-topping iconic hits like "Control," "All For You," and "Together Again," along with deep cuts from her decades-long career, complemented by dazzling wardrobe moments fashioned by Thom Browne. Following her performance at the American Music Awards, Jackson will return to the Resorts World Theatre stage for three performances on May 28, 30 & 31, 2025. Tickets for all performances are on sale now.

Today, Rolling Stone announced that Gus Wenner will assume the role of Executive Chairman, and Julian Holguin will become the brand’s CEO.  Wenner will collaborate with Holguin to ensure the brand’s long-term strategic vision while pursuing new ventures outside of Rolling Stone.  Holguin will assume oversight of the business.

“It has been an unbelievable journey leading Rolling Stone. There have been so many brilliant contributors and collaborators who have helped transform it from a magazine into a multimedia powerhouse, all while keeping its mission intact. I am grateful to every single one of them. Building something outside of Rolling Stone has been on my mind for some time, and although it has been a hard decision to make, the timing is right – the business is as strong as it has ever been, and it will be in great hands. I look forward to continuing to help guide the ship as Executive Chairman, while embarking on my next chapter,” said Wenner.

Wenner led the sale of Rolling Stone to Penske Media Corporation in 2017. Following the sale, he served as President for 4 years before becoming the brand's CEO in January 2022. During this period, he transformed Rolling Stone from a traditional magazine publisher into a thriving, multifaceted brand. Under his leadership, Rolling Stone has grown its audience to over 60 million readers per month, built a robust live events business, launched Rolling Stone Films, built a digital subscription business, and vastly expanded the brand’s global footprint – all led by the strength of its journalism. During Wenner’s tenure, Rolling Stone has won 7 National Magazine Awards, its first ever Emmy Award, a George Polk Award, and its first ever Murrow Prize.

"Rolling Stone is poised for continued success leveraging Gus’ deep experience and vision for the brand and Julian’s keen business instincts and passion for innovation,” said Jay Penske, Chairman and CEO, Penske Media Corporation. “Rolling Stone will continue its rich legacy of world class journalism and culture shaping conversation while creating new avenues for growth."

Holguin is a seasoned music and media executive and leader, with vast experience across digital publishing, social media, broadcast television and live events. He spent 10 years at Billboard, most recently as President, where he oversaw global business operations and led the company’s transformation from a business-to-business trade publication to an innovative leader in music media. He led Billboard through several transformative milestones, including its 2014 merger with The Hollywood Reporter, the acquisition of Spin Media in 2016, its 2018 merger with Dick Clark Productions and its eventual sale to Penske Media Corporation in 2020 while simultaneously leading the company to record increases across advertising, live events, licensing and content distribution. Holguin will report to Chairman and CEO, Penske Media Corporation, Jay Penske.

“The legacy and enduring impact of Rolling Stone is undeniable, and having the opportunity to broaden the scope and reach of the brand is the opportunity of a lifetime. I'm thrilled to join forces with the entire Rolling Stone team to drive its continued evolution and expansion into new and exciting territory,” said Holguin.
